Position Title: Volunteer Presenter / Community Trainer
Reports To: Program Manager / Training Coordinator
Position Summary
The Volunteer Presenter / Community Trainer provides non-paid educational instruction to the community on approved health and wellness topics. This role is essential in delivering evidence-based, relevant trainings that support harm reduction, safety, and overall community well-being. Topics may include Hepatitis C awareness, First Aid and CPR, Narcan administration, Mental Health First Aid, CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), and other approved subjects. All trainings must be conducted within the presenter’s scope of knowledge, certification, and expertise. This position ensures that all volunteer-led education aligns with organizational standards, complies with safety protocols, and maintains professionalism.
Responsibilities
• Conduct scheduled community trainings and classes on approved topics such as CPR, Narcan, Mental Health First Aid, and others.
• Ensure all educational materials are current, accurate, and appropriate for the audience.
• Deliver presentations that are trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally respectful.
• Present only topics for which the volunteer is properly trained or certified.
• Maintain clear boundaries and do not provide advice or instruction beyond certification.
• Coordinate with staff in advance regarding training dates, space availability, and attendance needs.
• Sign the visitor log upon entering the training site or facility.
• Submit documentation of certifications or credentials as required.
• Report attendance and provide brief summaries or feedback after each training.
• Use approved resources and avoid promoting personal business or unapproved content.
• Follow all safety procedures relevant to the training environment.
• Maintain participant confidentiality and do not share any private information.
• Uphold professionalism while working alongside clinical staff and community participants.
• Notify staff of any safety concerns, disruptions, or incidents during sessions.
• Represent the organization in a positive and respectful manner in all training settings.
• Collaborate with the Program Manager for scheduling, feedback, and ongoing training quality.
• Will respond to all internal communications (email, Teams, phone, or messages) within 24 business hours, unless
scheduled out of the office or on approved leave.
Qualifications
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Demonstrated knowledge and/or professional experience in the subject area being taught.
• Current certification required for regulated topics (e.g., CPR, Narcan, MHFA, etc.).
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences in an informative and respectful way.
• Must remain within scope of training/certification and refrain from offering clinical advice.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold agency policies.
• Must sign visitor log at each training location.
• Willingness to undergo orientation or volunteer onboarding as needed.
Scope of Practice
The Volunteer Presenter / Community Trainer offers community-based education and training on approved topics under the direction of program leadership. This is a non-clinical, non-paid role. Volunteer trainers are expected to operate within the boundaries of their certification and training, without providing medical, therapeutic, or unapproved advice. Presenters must follow agency policies, maintain professionalism, and contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment. External volunteers must sign in at each visit and coordinate all trainings with designated staff to ensure compliance, safety, and alignment with agency goals.
Work Location & Training Reporting:
The primary work location and designated reporting site for training will be assigned by your direct supervisor. You will receive all location details, scheduling information, and reporting instructions upon hire or as operational needs change.
