Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs)

Evidence-Based Practices are clinically validated approaches supported by research and widely used in therapeutic settings.

Types of Evidence Based Modalities:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):
A structured, short-term therapy that helps clients identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT):
A skills-based therapy that helps clients regulate emotions, tolerate distress, improve interpersonal relationships, and practice mindfulness.

Motivational Interviewing (MI):
A client-centered approach used to strengthen motivation and commitment to change, often used in substance use or behavioral change work.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT):
Designed for children and adolescents with trauma histories, incorporating CBT with trauma-sensitive interventions.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT):
Goal-oriented therapy focused on building solutions rather than analyzing problems.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT):
An evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral issues, focusing on improving parent-child interactions.

Therapy Client Eligibility

An appropriate Therapy client:

An appropriate client for therapy is someone who is experiencing emotional, behavioral, relational, or psychological challenges and is open to seeking help to improve their mental well-being. While anyone can benefit from therapy, a suitable client typically demonstrates a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process and a readiness to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. They present with identifiable concerns or goals, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship problems, stress, or life transitions. Clients are generally expected to have a basic level of stability—meaning they are not in immediate crisis or medical danger—so they can participate meaningfully in sessions, unless therapy is part of a broader crisis intervention plan. They should show respect for the process by attending sessions consistently, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and communicating honestly. Additionally, they exhibit some level of commitment to change and motivation toward personal growth, even if ambivalent at first. Ultimately, therapy is beneficial for people from all walks of life, and appropriateness is determined more by readiness and fit than by the presence of a specific diagnosis.
