Position Summary
The Clinical Director provides executive leadership, strategic oversight, and clinical guidance across all Herron Solutions programs and locations. This position ensures the quality, consistency, and compliance of behavioral health services, supports clinical and support staff, and fosters a culture of compassion, professionalism, and accountability aligned with the agency’s mission and New Mexico behavioral health standards. The Clinical Director is responsible for the overall clinical operations, staff development, and ensuring that clients receive high-quality, evidence-based, and recovery-oriented services.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for all clinical and support staff, including therapists, CSWs, CPSWs, and program supervisors.

Ensure all services across IOP, CCSS, CPSW, supportive housing, and other programs meet New Mexico Behavioral Health regulations, BHSD/HCA standards, and agency policies.

Monitor service delivery, client outcomes, and documentation quality across the agency.

Review and approve treatment plans, assessments, and progress notes to ensure regulatory compliance and clinical excellence.

Conduct executive-level team meetings, case consultations, and interdepartmental coordination to support staff growth and continuity of care.

Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and best practices across all programs.

Oversee clinical supervision provided by supervisors and ensure that non-independently licensed staff receive supervision as required by state regulations.

Identify agency-wide training needs, provide mentorship, and facilitate professional development opportunities for clinical and support staff.

Support quality assurance initiatives, audits, and compliance reviews across all service lines.

Serve as a liaison with external agencies, stakeholders, and community partners to expand access to services and promote collaborative care.

Ensure adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, professional ethical codes, and all licensure regulations.

Provide strategic input to the agency owner regarding program expansion, service development, and agency initiatives.

Respond to internal communications (email, Teams, phone, or messages) within 24 business hours, unless scheduled out of the office or on approved leave.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.

Independent licensure in the State of New Mexico (LPCC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent) required.

Minimum five (5) years of experience providing behavioral health services, with at least two (2) years in a leadership or executive clinical role.

Strong knowledge of Medicaid, BHSD/HCA standards, New Mexico behavioral health documentation, and billing practices.

Experience overseeing both clinical and support staff in a community-based setting preferred.

Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Proficiency in ICANotes, Microsoft Teams, and other electronic systems.

Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain professional boundaries.
Scope of Practice
The Clinical Director provides executive-level clinical and administrative oversight for all staff and programs within Herron Solutions. This position ensures that all therapists, CSWs, CPSWs, and supervisors operate within their defined scopes of practice, meet compliance and documentation standards, and deliver services aligned with evidence-based and recovery-oriented practices. The Clinical Director is responsible for agency-wide clinical strategy, staff development, and quality assurance but does not perform direct billing functions. This role is accountable for maintaining compliance with New Mexico licensure, Medicaid, and agency regulations, ensuring safe, ethical, and effective behavioral health service delivery while fostering a culture of support and growth for both clients and staff.
